Being an avid lover of travelling, I was very much excited to explore my journey from Patna to Ajmer. I have travelled a lot in the past, but that was for professional reasons, but this was a leisurely trip which made it more exhilarating.
Apart from being the 5th largest city in Rajasthan and wrapped by Aravalli ranges, Ajmer is visited by various people across the globe. Ajmer derived its name from ‘Ajay Meru’ which means invincible hill and the main attraction is the shrine of the Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. Another tourist attraction in the midst of Ajmer district is Pushkar which boasts of the famous temple of Hindu creator Lord Brahma – very few existing temples that is dedicated to him. With so many specialties in one district, who would want to miss this journey!
Well, I opted for a rail journey to Ajmer because I thought it was the best way to cherish the adventurous journey at every step. I had several options to choose from Patna Ajmer Trains like Ziyarat Express, Garib Nawaj Express but I finalized upon Ananya Express which operates only on Thursday. So, my journey kick started from Patna junction and I boarded the train in the night at 9:50 pm and was expected to reach the next day in the evening at 8:20 pm – almost 22 hours journey.
It was a long journey, but the comfort in the train was simply awesome. I got a golden opportunity to have brief encounters at stations – Mughal Sarai, Allahabad, Kanpur, Agra Fort, Sawai Madhopur and Jaipur. I also got a chance to munch on some delicious food items that were available at the railway stations.
The best part of travelling by train is that you wake up with the tempting aroma of snacks or with the sound of the tea vendors. Gone are the days, when trains were boring with fewer amenities because I could literally charge my mobile phone at the plug point that was right near my seat. I really got a chance to discover the diversity of our rich country. I patted my own back for choosing railways or else I would have missed all the fun!
