A very happy new year to everyone; hope that this year brings you great prosperity in life. I visited so many new places this year that I have lost the count now-all thanks to my audit job which gives me tremendous opportunities to travel. The best thing about my job is that it merges with my passion of travelling.
This magnificent brainchild of a British national, named Colonel Onsely, is located in the heart of Ranchi. Situated at the base of Ranchi Hill, its mirrored surface flaunting the enchanting image of the plush green hills above, left me mesmerized. After interacting with a few locals, I was informed that they simply address it as “Bada Talab”, which is no wonder since it is spread over a whopping 52 acres. As the exhaustiveness of the hustle & bustle of the city seemed to grow upon me, I decided to visit the much talked about “Talab”. It wasn’t a bad decision at all.
Located adjacent to a BSNL telephone exchange, my first impression of the lake was the incredibly clean and calm water. Gazing at the clear blue sky and relishing upon such a pleasant weather, I couldn’t resist myself from indulging in a quick boat ride. This lake has surely enhanced the overall beauty of the place. Moreover, the sunset view from the banks of this lake was truly breath-taking. As it grows darker, the splendid view of Ranchi Hill steadily disappears leaving you with an urge to know more about this spectacular lake. After indulging into a little chit-chat with the surrounding visitors, I was apprised by a little history that this lake shares. It is basically a man-made water body excavated and constructed at the base of Ranchi hill by the British in the year, 1842.
The exquisite location of this lake makes it an ideal place for families to visit and spend some quality time here in the form of a picnic. The Ranchi lake has various temples & churches all around it. Some noteworthy religious centres include Sri Shyam Mandir, Hanuman Mandir, Kali Mandir, Pahari Mandir and St. Mary Cathedral. I did not forget to plan a short trip to Shiva Mandir near the hill as well. Exhausted from strolling along the banks of the lake, I walked towards the hotel with a calmer, more placid mind. This man-made marvel is surely a gem embedded in the heart of Ranchi city.
As an audit officer I did not have many chances to travel in my earlier days but a vacation with my friends changed that. I am now addicted to travelling to new places and look forward to new experiences that each has to offer. I understand what the writer means when he says he has been bitten by the travel bug.
I am Pankaj Yadav and I am an Audit Officer, put up in Patna. In this particular blog post, I wish to share my experience of the recent trip of Rishikesh. Rishikesh as we all know, is a sacred place, located on the foothills of the Great Himalayas along the Ganges River. The city is particularly famous for the ashrams which impart meditation and yoga discourses.
Rishikesh as a temple town, acts as a perfect location for pilgrimage and Hindus flock to this place as it is considered holy. But another attraction which is garnering more interest these days is the activity of rafting in Rishikesh.
Couple Your Trip With Spirituality And Some Adventure, By Rafting In Rishikesh
Rafting is an adventure sport, wherein a group of people sit on a special boat called raft and the raft sails through the fast flowing river. The presence of Ganges has greatly influenced this activity and the river flows at a very high speed owing to the descent of the river from a higher elevation.
One big advantage of rafting compared to the other adventure sport is that, in Rafting one just has to sit and enjoy the experience and therefore he or she need not be necessarily very strong and fit. Summer times are the best, however the experience can be enjoyed in all months except in the monsoon when the river swells up.
Experience Adrenaline Rush Like Never Before By Rafting In Rishikesh
Few rafting spots are : Brahmapuri to NIM Beach, Brahmapuri to Rishikesh, Shivpuri to Rishikesh, Marine drive to Rishikesh and Kaudiyala to Rishikesh. Out of these Brahmapuri to Rishikesh is best suitable for the kids and Rishikesh to Kaudiyala is more favoured by adventure enthusiasts.
The cost varies according to the distance, however the upper limit is Rs 2000. The experience was brilliant and truly mesmerizing. Some of us even jumped into the river, to experience the chill waters, although I would not recommend everyone to do that. On a serious note, I would recommend everybody to visit this wonderful city and indulge in rafting in Rishikesh.
This hotel turned out to be quite an experience. Its proximity to the airport and railway station makes it suitable and famous even among leisure and business travellers. So as we reached the hotel, my friends and I were escorted to our rooms that were quite spacious and exquisite.
After taking a nap for a while, we freshened up to take a visit to the Ranchi Lake and Tagore Hill. The lake situated at the base of Ranchi Hill is an amazing spot for picnics and boating. The Ranchi Museum, Birsa Zoological Park and Deori Temple are among other amusing spots that we decided to visit.
The museum had a great ancient collection, and the Deori temple had a very quiet aura to it because of its breezy location. We then decided to go back to our hotel after a tiring day of wandering amidst these amazing locations. The hotel provides its guests the convenience of a restaurant, bar, coffee shop, health club with gym and steam bath facilities. Room service, front desk, Internet access, parking, air conditioning, travel desk and doctor-on-call are among other basic amenities provided to the guests which add to its hospitality.
The hotel has some added privileges for the guests on a business trip. They can avail provisions like business centre, well equipped with audio visual equipment and board room. One can also host social ceremonies like a wedding, or other formal events easily as the hotel offers banquet facilities as well. For dining, we ate at 24 Carrot, the in-house restaurant that serves Indian, Chinese, Thai, Italian, Mexican and Continental.
Premium, deluxe and executive rooms are among the accommodation that the guests can choose from. The rooms we resided in had a calming ambience and elegant furniture. The rooms were air-conditioned and also equipped with colour television, internet access, mini bar, telephone, in-room safe and Wi-Fi access. It was an affordable and exquisite experience for us also we get good discounts for booking through hotel booking app, and we enjoyed our stay way too much at this hotel. It was bliss in the real sense !
Dhuska and Aloo Rasa : I had an opportunity to taste this exotic dish from Jharkhand at a friend’s house. The dish is made from a variety of lentils like peas, grams and sometimes even rice flour is added. The Dhuska resembles a dosa and is prepared the same way and the curry Aloo Rasa is made from potatoes spiced with mustard and cumin seeds.
